Shivotsav: Annual Function 2022-23 Report

Shri Shivaji Science College in Amravati recently celebrated their annual function, Shivotsav – Fiesta, from the 15th to 19th of February 2023. The event was part of the series of events scheduled by the college on the occasion of the Centenary Silver Jubilee Year of First Agriculture Minister of India, Krishri Ratna, Education Maharshi Dr. Panjabrao alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh.
The students showed great enthusiasm in celebrating this attractive program, which was pronounced as "Fiesta" for this year. The festival was inaugurated on the 17th of February 2023 at 10:00 AM under the Chairmanship of Vice President of Shri Shivaji Education Society, Hon’ble Shri Keshavraoji Metkar, and in the prominent presence of Secretary Hon’ble Dr. V. G. Thakare. The festival was inaugurated by the well-known actor, singer, director, and counselor, Dr. Chandrakant Shinde.
During the Merit and Honor Ceremony held on the inaugural day of the festival, meritorious students were felicitated, and students, teachers, and non-teaching staff who received special achievements at the national, state, and university levels were honored. Various awards instituted by donors closely associated with the Shiv family were distributed on the occasion.
Students who excelled in academic, cultural, sports, social, environmental fields, etc., were honored with various awards like Shiv Bhushan, Best Student, Green Soldier, Continuous Reader Student, and Outstanding NSS Volunteer. Similarly, teachers and non-teaching staff who have done significant work for the college, students, and society were also felicitated with awards.
The sports festival was also celebrated with great fervor. Many sports competitions were organized by the students of the Student Council and Sports Volunteers, and students, teachers, and non-teaching staff participated in various matches. The winners were awarded prizes.
Apart from this, the college also organized an exhibition called Mini Sharks: Skill Expo, where students with special skills were given special opportunities to exhibit their skills, qualities, and services as budding entrepreneurs. In the two-day program, many innovative competitions were held to challenge the students' talents and imagination. These competitions included Shiv Pirates – Treasure Hunt, Dream Catchers, Tweet n Impress – Storytelling, Rhythm – Singing, Boooom – Dance, Actomania Acting, Creative Reels: Video, Rangoli, and Essays.
Overall, the annual function was a huge success, and all the attendees experienced the spectacle of Indian culture, the highest achievements of women at the world level, and the spectacular performances by students in “Shiv Pratap Mahima”. The event provided a great platform for students to showcase their skills and talents and learn from their peers.
