Department of Environmental Science



Department of Environmental Science was established in 1999. In 2007 the department has became on 100% grant. The subject is being offered at UG level in two combinations with Chemistry, Environmental Science, Botany / Zoology.

  1. The PG programme has been introduced in 2012 -13.

  2. Research laboratory has been recognized by SGBAU for Ph. D. in 2012.

  3. The department conducts various Extension / Youth Red Cross (YRC) / Outreach / Best practice on regular basis.

  4. Consultancy services: The department is also running Environmental consultancy laboratory and extending consultancy services to various industries and institutions.

We Aspire:
  • To inculcate scientific awareness towards protecting diversity and eco-environmental management of natural resources for sustainable development.

  • Strengthening the student’s competence to fetch more and more opportunities in the field of Environmental Science for better understanding of biodiversity and conservation strategies to sustain life on mother earth.

  • To conduct research and developmental studies regarding local environmental issues.

  • Provide experimental learning and participative learning through project work, field work and internship.

  • To render assistance to the industries of the region, governmental and nongovernmental local bodies towards human value, environment and sustainability.

  • To interact and collaborate with academic and research institutions on environmental science for mutual benefit.

  • Conduct various add-on course, breeze course, skill-based workshop, NET/SET coaching, placement drive for department UG and PG students.

The department is unique in having expertise in number of fields of Environmental Science like ecology, biodiversity, energy resource management, microbiology, environmental chemistry, water and wastewater treatment technology, air and air pollution control technology, environmental biotechnology, industrial safety, EIA, environmental priorities and sustainable development, hazardous waste management and application and use of remote sensing etc.
