Department of Bioinformatics


The Post Graduate department of Bioinformatics was established under the aegis of Botany Department in 2009. This is only P.G. Bioinformatics course in Vidarbha region. The department is doing progress under the coordinatorship of Dr. G. B. Hedawoo and teaching faculties Mr. S. G. Ingle and Ms. M. B. Ghormade. Many others experienced teaching faculties from various departments are involved and share their expertise. Within a very short period department has given the good performance in University Merit positions, total 23 students secured merit positions in university merit list. Three students of the department honored with DST-Inspire Fellowship. Departmental faculties and students participated and bagged prizes in various National, International conferences and competitions. Department also developed collaborative links with other Universities, Institutes, Colleges, and Companies for internship programs. Students of the department have placed at different industrial fields and department has maintained good placement ratio. Any science graduate from Life Science, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fishery sciences, Pharmacy or Medical Science discipline is eligible for this course. It is an interdisciplinary and self-finance course and its intake capacity is 20.
