“The Department of Science and Technology (DST), established on 3rd May, 1971, has played a catalytic role in the promotion of research and development in science and technology and has played the role of a nodal department by organizing, coordinating and promoting S&T activities in the country. The Department strives to strengthen the foundation of science and technology base of India and launch programmes with long term benefits. DST has introduced various schemes under its novel initiative. Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is the scheme devised in order to attract and retain young talent to the study of science at an early age. INSPIRE aims at communicating to the youth the excitements of creative pursuit of science, promoting research and innovation in Science & Technology and thus building a huge R&D base. This INSPIRE Internship Science Camp is organized for the students of standard 11. INSPIRE Internship a component of “Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science (SEATS)” under the INSPIRE Programme is the enrolment increasing phase. In this component of SEATS, students would be selected for summer/ winter camps on an annual basis to provide an opportunity for students to interact with global leaders in science to experience the joy of innovations on an annual basis through INSPIRE internship. This camps would nourish the curiosity of children in science; help them to think out of the box and attract the students at an early age of16-17 years (i.e. in XI standard) to pursue a research career.

DST INSPIRE Science Camp 2019

Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati, Maharashtra organized INSPIRE Internship Science Camp during 25th to 29th December, 2019. This five-day fully residential camp provided good opportunity to interact with scientists of national and international repute. The thought provoking lectures, discussions, hands on laboratory sessions, one to one interaction with mentors and motivation towards inquiry-based questions was awesome feast of knowledge for the participants. Participants provided with registration kit, free boarding & lodging, and study materials for all five days of the camp. There was no registration fee for the camp.


Financial Support to the Participants

All expenditure towards Registration, Travel (to & fro), Accommodation, Food for all students attending DST INSPIRE Science Camp was taken care under DST INSPIRE program funds.

Eligibility to participate:

1. The students should be in class XI science and recommended by the respective institute.
2. The student must be in the top 1% performers in 10th class examinations of Maharashtra State School Boards or CBSE, ICSE board studying in Maharashtra.
3. Securing more than 93.60% for Maharashtra State Board or with a CGPA of A1, CBSE - 95.00% and ICSE 96.80%.
4. The student should have not attended a similar internship camp elsewhere earlier.
