Objectives:
- To develop simple analytical methods for identification of pesticides and insecticides residues in different vegetables and fruits.
- To improve knowledge and skills in the area of identification of pesticides residue by conducting lecture and practical training
- To improve the knowledge of benefits of organic vegetables and fruits which are free of pesticides.
- To aware students about harmful effect of pesticides and insecticides.
- To identify organic fruits and vegetables and pesticides infected fruits and vegetables

Activity Report:
Department of Chemistry organized Six days activity on the topic of "To study the presence of Insecticides/Pesticides (nitrogen containing ) in various Fruits and Vegetables" for B.Sc. III Students (2024-25) from dated 19th August 2024 to 24th August under the guidance of Dr. G.V. Korpe, Principal, Shri. Shivaji Science College, Amravati, Dr. A. S. Burghate, Head, Department of Chemistry, Dr. D.D. Khedkar, Coordinator, DBT Star Project Dr. P.R. Mandlik, PG Co-ordinator, Dr. S. A. Wadhal , Dr. N. A. Kalambe organizing Committee member. All the Respected faculty members of Department of Chemistry were present for this programme.
Total 125 students chemistry offering subject with the combination of microbiology, environmental science, biotechnology, physics, mathematics, botany and zoology participated in this activity. Meanwhile, all the students participated spontaneously and enjoyed this event in studious atmosphere.
In this regard, Dr. A. S. Burghate, Head, Department of Chemistry, made the students understand the side effects of pesticides in fruits and vegetables and informed the students about the various adverse effects and diseases caused by the ingredients present in them. She tells about the benefits of pesticide spraying for control of harmful insects but it also has its disadvantages as its traces can be found in the human body and have serious side effects if consumed in food. Dr. D.D. Khedkar , Coordinator , DBT Star Project had given the introduction of DBT scheme by Department of Bio-technology, Govt. of India. He introduced the students about benefits of DBT activity. At the end of programme, certificates were distributed to the all participants by the hands Dr. A.S. Burghate Madam, Dr. A. B. Bodade. Dr. N. H. Bansod and activity incharge Dr. S. A. Wadhal. Dr. N.A. Kalambe.
Outcomes:
- Students were awared about the knowledge of identification of pesticides in fruits and vegetables.
- Students got an idea about use of simple college laboratory techniques for identification of pesticides.
- Through this activity students are aware about hazardous effect 0f use of pesticides and insecticides spray on the crops.
- Students got knowledge of chemistry practical and handling of glassware and instruments
