The Department of Environmental Science, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati organized a one-day workshop on “Writing of Research Articles & Thesis” on 8th October 2025. The workshop aimed to enhance students' understanding of academic research writing and to encourage them towards research-oriented careers.
The inauguration of the programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. P. G. Bansod, Professor & Head, Department of Botany and IQAC Coordinator, VidyabhartiMahavidyalaya, Amravati, and Dr. Gajanan Santape, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Rajashri Shahu Science College, Chandur Railway, as Chief Guest and Guest Speaker respectively.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Sangeeta P. Ingole, Head, Department of Environmental Science and IQAC Coordinator, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati. The event commenced with the floral tribute to the great visionary, Founder of Shri Shivaji Education Society, Educationist & Krishi Ratna Dr. Punjabrao alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh.
Dr. Sangeeta P. Ingole delivered the welcome address and introduced the theme of the workshop, followed by the introduction of guests by Dr. K. J. Gawai. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. V. D. Bute.
In the first session, Dr. P. G. Bansod enlightened the students on the importance of research in developing analytical ability, creativity, and critical thinking. He motivated students to pursue careers in research through opportunities available in premier national institutes such as NEERI, CSIR, etc., as Project Associates or Research Fellows.
He elaborated the essential components of a research article including Title, Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. He also explained Plagiarism, Citation styles, and Acknowledgment writing in detail.
The second session was conducted by Dr. Gajanan Santape, who focused on the structure and preparation of Project Reports/Thesis. He guided students on selecting suitable project titles, sources of research ideas, and procedures to apply for government funding for student research projects.
During the presidential remarks, Dr. Sangeeta P. Ingole stated that such workshops help in cultivating research aptitude among students, improving their knowledge, and enhancing their employability skills. She emphasized that this initiative would serve as motivation for students to explore research opportunities in the future.
Around 85 students actively participated in the workshop and benefitted from the expert guidance provided. The programme was well anchored by Dr. Manisha Jane. The successful organization of the workshop was supported by faculty members Dr. Vaishali Deshmukh, Sunita Malwe, Preeti Bonde, Mayuri Gobade, Roshan Vaidya and the student volunteers of the department.
The workshop concluded with positive feedback and strong interest shown by participants in research writing activities.
