Date: 09 October, 2025
Wildlife Week was conceptualized in 1952 with the overall goal of raising awareness to serve the long-term goal of safeguarding the lives of wildlife through critical action. Throughout Wildlife Week, experts conduct hands-on workshops to bring the more complex aspects of wildlife conservation within the reach and understanding of all age groups. This year’s wildlife week is also celebrated through numerous awareness building activities.
Wildlife Week is celebrated in India annually from October 2nd to 8th to promote the preservation of fauna, featuring themes like "Living with Wildlife". Campaigns for awareness may focus on community engagement, school workshops, nature walks, and reducing plastic waste to foster coexistence between humans and nature. Among these, awareness for conservation of wildlife at school level with help of posters and slogans were selected.
An Awareness Campaign on Wildlife Conservation was organized by the Department of Zoology, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati in Collaboration with Melghat Tiger Reserve (MTR) on 09 October, 2025 from 10.00 am onwards.
School awareness programs are structured initiatives focusing on health, safety, environmental sustainability, and social issues, designed to foster responsible citizenship and empathy. The scenario of education is witnessing a creative change with the implementation of New Education Policy. The policy makers of our country realised the importance of necessary life skills for the young generation. Besides, the focus on creative methods of teaching and learning has been emphasised. Students are expected to know about their responsibility towards their parents, society and the country. They should possess a value system which will enhance their personality and enable them to get acclimatized with the situations they confront. Thus, all children need to be trained and equipped with all the skills that will guide them to become nation builders.
A wildlife conservation posters prepared by UG students represented a visual plea to protect natural habitats and endangered species, often featuring compelling imagery like a, tiger, elephant, or a globe covered in diverse flora and fauna. Common designs use emotional imagery—such as a turtle trapped in plastic or a silhouette of wild animals—paired with actionable, bold slogans like "Save the Animal" or "Extinction is Forever.
Key Elements of a Wildlife Conservation Poster: Imagery: Vivid illustrations or photos of endangered species, often showcasing them in their natural habitat or in silhouette.
