Objectives:
- 1. To introduce participants about pre and post independent Indian women scientists and their achievements.
- 2. To inculcate scientific temper among students.
- 3. To promote motivation among students especially female students by showing them inspiring journeys of some of female scientists of India through documentary screening.
- 4. To aware students about advancements in different fields of science and technology.
- 5. To inform and carry on the legacy of Dr. C. V. Raman among participants, which ranked India in Global Scientific Platform.

Activity Report:
As we all know that National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 February every year to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28 February 1928. To honor this achievement and promote scientific awareness, the Government of India declared 28 February as National Science Day in 1986. The day highlights the importance of science and encourages scientific thinking among students and citizens.
To commemorate this day, Department of Zoology organized a documentary screening focused on the life journey and achievements of some of the Indian Women Scientists, keeping in mind the theme “Women in Science- Catalysing the Vikshit Bharat”. The documentary included scientists from pre- independence to post independence India. This event included students from Undergraduate and Post graduate classes.
The main aims and objectives as well as the objectives of the event were as following:
Aims and Objectives:
1. To introduce participants about pre and post independent Indian women scientists and their achievements.
2. To inculcate scientific temper among students.
3. To promote motivation among students especially female students by showing them inspiring journeys of some of female scientists of India through documentary screening.
4. To aware students about advancements in different fields of science and technology.
5. To inform and carry on the legacy of Dr. C. V. Raman among participants, which ranked India in Global Scientific Platform.
Outcomes:
1. Students acquired deeper knowledge about pre and post independent Indian women scientists and their achievements.
2. Students inspired to improve their scientific approach and build up scientific temperament.
3. Students will get motivated by inspiring from the life journeys of the scientists both personal and professional.
4. Students will get knowledge about advancements in different fields of science and technology.
5. Students should understand how these scientific discoveries and advancements in fields help the society and nation.
This small effort to make the developing scientist aware about the achievements and the role of women in science was catalysed under DBT star project scheme- 2024 and was successfully organized under the guidance and supervision of Dr. J. D. Dhote, Prof. & Head, Department of Zoology, Dr. G. A. Wagh, Prof. & Department DBT Coordinator; Teaching faculty of Zoology Department- Dr. G. D. Hande, Dr. S. V. Gawande, Dr. P. M. Ramteke, Dr. S. J. Kawade, Mr. V. L. Rane, Ms. B. S. Chaudhary, Mr. Saket Wankhade.
Non- teaching staff of Zoology Department- Sh. Pankaj Chaudhary, Ms. S. R. Mankar, Mr. S. L. Gawai, Mr. M. S. Solanke and Mr. Bharat Dhabade.
Outcomes:
