Objectives:
- 1. Understand and explain the basic chemical principles underlying vital life processes such as digestion, respiration, photosynthesis, and enzyme activity.
- 2. Demonstrate the role of biomolecules—carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids—in sustaining life.
- 3. Incorporate hands-on activities, experiments, and models to teach complex biochemical concepts in simple and relatable ways.
- 4. Apply interdisciplinary approaches combining chemistry and biology to improve lesson delivery and student comprehension.
- 5. Build confidence and competence in handling practical components of life chemistry in a school laboratory setting

Aims
• To enhance the conceptual understanding of teachers in the field of biochemistry and life processes.
• To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical classroom application in teaching the chemistry of biological systems.
Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, participating teachers will be able to:
1. Understand and explain the basic chemical principles underlying vital life processes such as digestion, respiration, photosynthesis, and enzyme activity.
2. Demonstrate the role of biomolecules—carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids—in sustaining life.
3. Incorporate hands-on activities, experiments, and models to teach complex biochemical concepts in simple and relatable ways.

Under DBT STAR Project Scheme Department of Chemistry, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati organised training program for teachers of Shivaji Ideal English School, Shivaji Nagar, Amravati on the topic “Chemistry of Life Processes” on 27th March 2025 at 2.00 pm. The training program was inaugurated by the hands of Ms. Vaishali Thakare, Principal, Shivaji Ideal English School, Shivaji Nagar, Amravati and expert speaker Dr. V. P. Wankhade, Professor, Vidhyabharati Mahavidyalaya, Amravati. Dr. N. H. Bansod, Professor, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati guided over the workshop. Total thirty-five teachers were participated from different subjects. The program was anchor by Dr. Y. S. Thakare, Professor, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati
Dr. V. P. Wankhade, Professor, Vidhyabharati Mahavidyalaya Amravati was the speaker for the workshop. The training program was started with introductory speech given by Dr. N. H. Bansod, Convener of the training program. He briefly explains purpose behind this training program. Dr. V. P. Wankhade started his lecture choosing very light topic with Group discussion, group activity and practical application of chemistry of life processes. How scientific concept was useful in teaching any subject was the main attraction of the training program. Dr. V. P. Wankhade cover different topics useful to teach any subject for school children. He explains various steps chemistry of life processes through group activities, searching the literature, performing group discussion and writing teaching learning flow chart. Last session was the valedictory of the training program. The sessions were chaired Ms. Vaishali Thakare, Principle, Shivaji Ideal English School, Shivaji Nagar, Amravati. She was guided on different types of methodology used in teaching through scientific attitude. Number of teachers participants express their views about training program. The program was over with high tea.
Outcomes:
- Learners will relate biomolecular functions to nutrition, health, and disease.
- Educators will design and conduct simple, safe biochemical experiments.
- Learners will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through lab work.
- Students will apply knowledge from multiple sciences to solve problems
- Learners will identify the structure and function of key biomolecules.
