Activity Report:
Under the DBT Catalyst Program, the Chemistry Department organized an Intercollegiate Seminar competition for BSC 1st year for session 2024–25. The intercollegiate seminar competition was a huge success, with enthusiastic participation from BSc I students in short duration of time. The event aimed to raise awareness about global warming and the greenhouse effect, encouraging students to think critically about these pressing environmental issues.
Aims and Objectives
• To raise awareness about global warming and the greenhouse effect
• To encourage students to think critically and give alternative solution for protection of environment
• To give innovative ideas and techniques to curb this problem.
A total of twelve students from different colleges of SGBAU Amravati University, Amravati participated in the competition, presenting insightful and well-
researched perspectives on climate change, the causes and consequences of global warming, and innovative solutions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. The event began with an Inauguration program was organized on 29th March 2025 at A.V. theater at 11.00 am. Dr. P.R. Mandlik, HOD Department of Chemistry, Chair the session along with Invited Judges Dr. Sachin V. Manohare, Aadarsh Mahavidyalaya Dhamangaon Railway, Dr. Vikrant Bute from Department of Environment Science, Dr. Nitin H. Bansod, Convener of the competition, Participants and audience. The welcome address by the convener, followed by a brief inaugural speech from Dr. P.R. Mandlik, HOD, Department of Chemistry, who stressed the critical role of young minds in combating climate challenges. The program was anchored by Dr. R. D. Bankar
After the short duration the competition was begin in the Room No G2 with audience from B.Sc. I
Participants presented on a wide range of subtopics, including:
• The science behind the greenhouse effect
• Impact of global warming on biodiversity and human health
• International climate agreements and policies
• Renewable energy as a sustainable alternative
A panel of esteemed judges Dr. Sachin V. Manohare and Dr. Vikrant Bute were meticulously evaluating the presentations.
The winner of the intercollegiate competition got the cash prize Rs.1500,1000 and 700 for the First, second and third places along with mementoes, Certificate respectively.
All participants were awarded certificates of participation and appreciation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. R. D. Bankar, the organizing secretary, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizing committee, faculty members, student volunteers, and participants for making the event a resounding success.
The seminar served as a vibrant platform for academic exchange and inspired collective action toward environmental sustainability.
