Activity Report:

Registration and Participation
Registration for the event commenced at 9:00 am in the department, with breakfast and tea arrangements made simultaneously. Out of 81 students who had registered online, 53 participants actually presented and demonstrated experiments in this 12th edition of this the competition. Participants represented all levels B.Sc. I, II, III, and P.G. (M.Sc.).
Inaugural Function
The inaugural ceremony was held at 10:00 am in the A.V. Theatre of the college. Dr. W.S. Barde, Ex-Head of the Physics Department and Ex-IQAC Coordinator of the college, inaugurated the competition. Following the floral tribute to the late Founder President Dr. Bhausaheb alias Panjabrao Deshmukh, Dr. Barde delivered an insightful inaugural address. He emphasized the importance of experimental physics, highlighting that “Learning by doing is the key to success.” Dr. P.A. Nagpure shared the dais and provided instructions to the participants. The event was efficiently conducted by Dr. S.S. Arsad.

Students showcased a wide range of experiments covering mechanics, optics, electronics, and advanced topics, including:

• Superposition of two SHMs on a CRO
• Determination of η by Maxwell’s needle
• Torsional pendulum
• Young’s double slit experiment
• Fourier transform simulation
• Malus’ law
• Newton’s rings
• Locally constructed diffractometer
• Rydberg’s constant determination
• Curie temperature for ferromagnetic materials
• Millikan’s oil drop method for determining the electron charge
Lunch Break and Continued Presentations
Lunch was served at 1:30 pm, after which presentations and demonstrations continued until 5:00 pm.
Valedictory Function
The valedictory function was graced by Professor Dr. S.K. Omanwar, Former Head of the Physics Department, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati, as the chief guest. He congratulated the Physics Department for consistently organizing this popular event since 2007-2008, recognizing its impact on the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University region. He praised the management’s commitment to fostering knowledge and skill-building activities. He said the longevity and popularity of this event are a testament to the department’s vision, hard work, and commitment to academic excellence. It is through initiatives like this that students are given the opportunity to transcend classroom learning and apply their knowledge in practical, meaningful ways. He acknowledge and commend the college management for their unwavering support and commitment to fostering knowledge and skill-building activities and dedication to nurturing a culture of learning, research, and collaboration is truly praiseworthy.
He urge the department to continue on this path of academic excellence, innovation, and student-centric initiatives. Let us all work together to create a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment where curiosity is celebrated, skills are honed, and the joy of learning is contagious.
Dr. G.V. Korpe, Principal of Shri Shivaji Science College, delivered the presidential address, appreciating the participants’ enthusiasm and the judges’ dedication. He urge the students to carry forward the enthusiasm, the spirit of learning, and continue to strive for excellence by supporting one another, and contributing positively to the legacy of Shri Shivaji Science College. Dignitaries on the dais, including Dr. W.S. Barde and Dr. P.A. Nagpure, distributed trophies to the winners and certificates to all participants. Dr. S.S. Arsad anchored the valedictory ceremony.

• First Prize: Prashik Shirsat and Ku. Sanjana Katore (R.L.T. Science College, Akola) – Diffractometer
• Second Prize: Ku. Nandini Pariwale – Fourier transform-based study of dog’s vocal signals
• Third Prize: Rohit Dhonde and Om Vijay Ingale (Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati) – Radioactive decay process using dice roll experiment
M.Sc. Category
• First Prize: Ku. Vaidehi Sandip Dawande (Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati) – Exploring cyclic voltammetry using SEE laboratory
• Second Prize: Ku. Vaibhavi Prakashrao Kale (J.D. Patil Sangludkar Mahavidyalaya, Daryapur) – Thevenin’s theorem
Organizing Team
The event was a success thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Physics Department faculty: Dr. V.V. Deshmukh, Dr. R.G. Korpe, Dr. P.A. Fartode, Dr. R.G. Deshmukh, Dr. A.B. Bodade, Dr. P.P. Khirade, S.M. Butte, D.P. Rathod, E.L. Thakare, S.M. Chinche and S.S. Korde.
The competition was an enriching and memorable experience for all participants, fostering a spirit of scientific inquiry and collaboration. Students deepened their grasp of fundamental and advanced physics concepts through hands-on demonstrations and presentations. Participants developed confidence in explaining complex scientific principles to an audience, improving their scientific communication skills. The event ignited curiosity and motivation among students to explore experimental physics beyond the curriculum. Students and teachers from different colleges established connections, fostering a collaborative learning environment across institutions. Talented students were identified, encouraged, and rewarded, boosting their morale and inspiring them for future scientific pursuits.
