Objectives:
1. Research club provides support, inclusion, and diversity.
2. Create research opportunities which promote learning and increase student potential
3. Conduct thorough research aimed at enhancing opportunities and improving the well being of humanity.
4. Provide community services.
5. Present their findings at the various platforms.
6. Provide a platform where students can connect, publish their research, and engage in meaningful discussions.
Activities:
1. Invite speakers from various universities; research Institutes and scientific organizations to talk to us about research and opportunities.
2. Discussion on project concept, design the project and submission of projects to various funding agencies.
3. Meetings with experts, professors, teachers and scientists
4. Work on scholarly research to present at conferences.
Outgrowth:
1. It enhances critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
2. Students gain hands-on experience in conducting research in laboratories as well as on field.

Activities Report
Department of Zoology, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati launched the “Green Research Club (GRC)” for teachers and students under the DBT Project Scheme. This club is designed to promote research, foster collaboration, and advocate for the interests of professionals and educators in specific fields. It will provide students a platform to connect, publish their research, and engage in meaningful scientific discussions. As part of this initiative, the Department of Zoology prepared a unique logo, brochure, Cotton cloth bags, Batches, Caps for members, and reference materials for the students.
The Green Research Club has actively engaged students in various academic, scientific, and extracurricular activities. These initiatives are designed to foster a love for learning, encourage team work, and scientific platforms, and build essential skills beyond the classroom. This report summarizes key activities conducted by the Green Research Club over the past two months.
1. Workshop on Butterfly Identification and host plant study
Date: 20 & 21 September 2024
Aim & Objective: To study the local butterfly diversity & their host plants
Activities: Guest lecture & Field visit
Prepared and distributed the identification keys in the form of brochures on butterfly species and host plants. Also, provided study material on the life cycle of some common butterflies.
Outcome: A noticeable improvement in students’ confidence and skill in the identification of butterfly species was observed.
2. Beat Plastic pollution -Reuse single-use plastic- Go green
Date: 28 Sept 2024
Aim & Objective: To create awareness among college and school students through a mass awareness campaign
Activities: Prepared and distributed the cotton cloth bags with the message ‘Go Green- Reuse single-use plastic’ as a part of beat Plastic pollution awareness campaign.
Success: The campaign raised awareness; encouraging students to take small actions toward beating plastic pollution -Reuse single-use plastic.
3. Preparation of Local faunal diversity leaflets
Date: 27 September 2024
Aim & Objective: To inform the students about local faunal biodiversity.
Activities: Prepared and distributed the leaflets on local faunal diversity
The workshop included an interactive session on knowing our local faunal biodiversity.
Students carefully observed the brochures and learned about the regional diversity of butterflies, dragonflies, Reptiles, Birds, and Mammals.
Success: Known the local faunal diversity
4. Environmental Awareness Campaign:
Date: 7 September 2024
Aim & Objective: To create environmental responsibility among students.
Activities: Celebration of eco-friendly Ganesh Festival
Students participated in the Clay Ganesh Idol awareness campaign, “Matiche Ganpati Basawa Aani Nisargachi Bandhilki Dakhwa”.
Success: The campaign raised awareness; encouraging students to take small actions toward the celebration of eco-friendly festivals avoid plaster Paris idols and preservation of our freshwater resources.
Date: 8 September 2024
Aim & Objective: To develop environmental responsibility among students.
Activity: Interactive session on Importance of Biodiversity and celebration of eco-friendly festivals
Students attended the presentation and learned about messages given in the scriptures of all religions and by great Santa and philosophers that is the duty of humans to conserve the earth, biodiversity, and natural resources.
Success: The discussion raised awareness, encouraging students to take small actions toward the conservation of our biodiversity.

Aim & Objective: To promote environmental responsibility among students.
Activities: Celebration of Ozone Day: Drawing competition
Students created posters on Ozone Day 2024 theme “Ozone for Life’’ and participated in a competition.
Success: The campaign raised awareness, encouraging students to take small actions toward the preservation of the Ozone layer.
5. Guest Lecture Series:
Date: 22 September 2024
Aim & Objective: To expose students to professionals in various fields and broaden their career perspectives.
Activity: Presentation on Basics of Photography & Documentation
Delivered the lecture on the basics of Photography and gave information on how this photography skill is important in case study and project documentation.
Students engaged in hands-on training sessions and learned about real-world applications of photography.
Success: The lectures inspired students and provided them with valuable insights into potential career paths in photography.
6. Project Activities:
Date-20 September 2024
Aim & Objective: To prepare the culture media & observe fungi-infected fishes
Activity: To study the fungal infection in freshwater fishes
Students participated in fungi culture project activity and learned about culture procedures and common infected fungi in fishes
Success: The project activity provided valuable insights to students regarding microbial culture.
Date -27 September 2024
Aim & Objective: To observe the live Protozoan movement
Activity: Culture of protozoan and observe their vital movement
Students participated in the protozoan culture project activity and learned about culture procedures.
Success: The project activity inspired the students and provided them with valuable insights regarding project implementation.
Conclusion
The activities conducted by the Green Research Club (GRC) have greatly enriched students’ academic, research experiences and personal development.
The enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from students indicate that these activities are meeting the club’s objectives effectively. Moving forward, the club will continue to organize engaging and educational, research-based innovative programs and conservation programs that benefit students.
Significant outcomes of the Green Research Club:
1. Students get a platform for scientific discussion, implement their innovative ideas, and take initiative for conservation aspects.
2. Increased awareness among students regarding environmental issues.
3. Students acquired the knowledge of local biodiversity
4. Students adapted environment sustainable lifestyle.

During the launching of the club Dr. Gajanan Wagh, professor of the Department of Zoology and department DBT project co-ordinator explained the aims and objectives of the Green Research Club. Under this Green Research Club (GRC) various activities were successfully conducted by students and staff of the Zoology Department under the guidance of Dr. G.V.Korpe, Principal, Dr. D.D.Khedkar, DBT star project coordinator, Dr.J.D.Dhote, professor and Head of the Department of Zoology, Dr.Gajanan A. Wagh, DBT project co-ordinator of the Zoology Department.
