NAAC Accreditation Awareness Workshop held at Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati

One Day Workshop on NAAC Accreditation Awareness for Affiliated Colleges in Amravati and Yavatmal Districts, was jointly Organised by IQAC, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University and IQAC, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati, on 23rd November 2017, in Sir C.V. Raman Auditorium of the college.The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Hon’ble Dr. Murlidhar Chandekar, Vice Chancellor, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.




The inauguration of the workshop held at the hands of Hon’ble Dr. Ramchandra N. Shelke ,Vice President, Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati. Also the seventh issue of the college IQAC Newsletter was published in this event. Dr. S.F. R. Khadri, IQAC Director, SGBAU, Principal Dr. V. G. Thakare and Dr. H. S. Lunge, IQAC Coordinator of the college, were also present on the dais.





The four technical sessions were conducted in which the first session on Curricular Aspects was elaborated, with new changes in NAAC new methodology, by Dr. M. R. Kurup. The Quality enhancement revised framework was explained by Dr. Prakash Puranik. There were 207 participants from 82 Affiliated Colleges in Amravati and Yavatmal Districts were present for this one day workshop. The queries and doubts of the delegates in the new methodology of accreditation were answered by all the resource persons. The feedback was collected through the format, for analyzing the suggestions and opinions with ground realities of implementation, so as to forward to the NAAC authorities. The revised weightages for 7 Criteria and 34 Key Indicators along with Grading Pattern discussed by Dr. V.S. Sapkal, Former Vice Chancellor, RSTM Nagpur University. Dr. Rajan Welukar, Former Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University, Mumbai, delivered his thoughts on Mandatory Accreditation for Quality Education.





The Guests of Honour Dr. M. R. Kurup, Secretary, Kelkar Trust, Mumbai, and Dr. Prakash Puranik, former Registrar, Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Ramtek, were present on the occasion.





Dr. Rajan Welukar, Former Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University, Mumbai, delivered his thoughts on Mandatory Accreditation for Quality Education.



The IQAC team members Dr. W. S. Barde, Dr. P. R. Padole, Dr. Mrs. S. P. Ingole, Sh. V. V. Hebbar, Dr. G. A. Wagh and Dr. G. B. Hedaoo worked collectively for the successful organization of the workshop. Prof. V. G. Bhamburkar, Prof. Murtuza Ali, Principals, IQAC coordinators, and management representatives of the various colleges, were present on the occasion.



Two-Day NAAC Sponsored National Conference on Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) of the Higher Education Institutions

The Two-Day NAAC sponsored National Conference on Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) of the Higher Education Institutions, was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati, on December 09-10, 2016. The objective of the conference was to facilitate an understanding of the importance of Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) of the Higher Education Institutions and to encourage self-evaluation and accountability in higher education institutions. The conference convener Dr. V. G. Thakare, Principal, while welcoming the guests and the delegates for the conference, appraised the gathering on the working of the college IQAC. The inauguration session was chaired by Adv. Arun B. Shelke, President, Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati. Speaking on this occasion, Adv. Arunbhau Shelke emphasized the need of conducting audit by external peers which provides the suggestions for further improvement in the institutions.




Conference Inauguration

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. S. P. Kane, Vice Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S. P. Kane elaborated on the concept of Academic and Administrative Audit and its relevance in higher education institutions. Dr. M.G. Chandekar, Vice Chancellor of SGB Amravati University explained the rationale and the need for conducting AAA through external peers.

The conference proceeding of nearly 157 pages, having ISBN 978-81-926186-6-1, which includes the keynote address, invited talks and twenty six full length papers of the participants, was published at the hands of the inaugurator. The IQAC newsletter of the college too was published on this occasion. The National conference witnessed the participation of 143 delegates comprising of Principals, IQAC coordinators and faculty from various colleges. Dr. R. G. Pardeshi, Principal, Fergusson College, Pune, delivered the keynote address on ‘Academic and Administrative Audit: A Quality Assurance Tool’.



Invited Talks

The first invited talk was delivered by Dr. M.R. Kurup, Secretary, Kelkar Education Trust, Mumbai, on ‘Management and 3 A`s. He illustrated the significance of the role of management representatives in the process of conducting the yearly Administrative Audit in order to take appropriate measures the overall improvement of the institution. Dr. Vijay Joshi, Principal, K. J. Somaiya Science College, Mumbai spoke, in the second invited talk, on ‘AAA Ritual or Tool?.


Panel Discussion and Valedictory

The Panel Discussion Session on the theme of the conference was organized on the second day under the chairmanship of Dr. P.G. Yeole, Pro- Vice Chancellor, RTMNU, Nagpur, and as the learned members of the the panel, Prof. N. S. Nikam, President, Maharashtra Principals` Federation, Pune, Prof. V. G. Bhamburkar, Secretary, Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, Dr. S.F.R. Khadri, Director, IQAC, SGBAU, Amravati and Dr. P. B. Raghuvanshi, President, Nagpur University Teachers Association, actively participated in the discussion. The delegates presented their queries in the process of internal and external audit and those queries were answered by the panel members. There was a two way fruitful interaction between the panel and the delegates. Paper presentation session, was chaired by Dr. V. S. Jamode, in which twenty six papers were presented on AAA, by the participants.



The valedictory session was chaired by Principal Dr. V. G. Thakare along with the guests like Dr. S.F. R. Khadri and Dr. V. S. Jamode. The IQAC coordinator and organizing Secretary Dr. H. S. Lunge and all IQAC members took great efforts for the successful organization of the event.

Outcome: The different delegates, in their full length papers, considered the various parameters and many of them even suggested the formats for conducting Academic and Administrative Audit. The college IQAC has recently revised the earlier format with allocating a scale for each of the aspects. All the formats are provided in the conference proceeding for consideration by NAAC, in future for the process of AAA.
