Career Counseling Cell

Career Counseling & Coaching at entry level Competitive Examination Cell is established as per XI Plan Guidelines by UGC under schemes which have been merged with the General Development Grant. This cell is established as Equal Opportunity Center in College to address the diverse socio-economic challenges and geographic backgrounds of the heterogeneous population of students coming to the Colleges vis-à-vis equity of access and placement opportunities through availability of appropriate institutional support information. Linguistic differences and cultural gaps among students also call for the setting up of counseling cells. Availability of relevant and accessible information coupled with professional guidance to utilize the same can result in better career achievements outside the classrooms and help in the healthy progression of students. This counselling cell in a College is a resource center of information, guidance and counselling with free accessibility and internet based global connectivity and exchange of information on professional placements.

FUNCTIONS OF CAREER AND COUNSELLING CELL


1. To provide information to the students regarding available opportunities for building career.
2. To organize motivational lectures for students to make them aware about various competitive examinations, patterns and preparations.
3. To organize seminars and guidance workshops for informing students about the emerging professional trends and events, job profiles, leadership roles, entrepreneurship, market needs and risks.
4. To promote discipline, healthy outlook and positive attitudes towards national integration and removal of narrow provincial preferences and prejudices.

Activities Scheduled / Conducted

2016 - 2017

Daily Regular Class during 6.00 to 7.00 PM

The activities under the cell were started in the month of August 2015 with an announcement for registration of the students. The regular classes for guidance about the competitive examinations were commenced from 23rd August, 2016. Brainstorming lectures were conducted by Dr. D. D. Khedkar. A workshop on Goal Setting was conducted on 30th August. 78 students attended the same and established their short term and long term goal in life. The daily schedule was prepared by almost every participant. The regular time table with the topics was displayed and accordingly lectures were conducted. Virtual / recorded lectures by faculties of reputed IAS academies were shown to the students. Basic portions of the MPSC / UPSC syllabus for the subjects like Geography, History, Polity and Science were completed.

Communication Skills

The special lectures for the communication skill and English Language were delivered by Dr. Ms. Pallavi Barbde. Students’ response to these classes were also very good. Dr. S. A. Arsad have also conducted lectures on general science covering fundamental science part from the syllabus.

Mock MPSC and UPSC Exam

To get familiar with the MPSC / UPSC examination, MOCK EXAM similar to the pattern of MPSC was announced on 31st August, 2016. Overall 165 students registered and appeared for the examination on 16th October, 2016. The result was declared on 24th October, 2016.

The Seven Day Behavioural Training Programme

The Seven Day Behavioural Training Programme was organized for all college students. Reputed Corporate & Soft Skills Trainer Mrs. Asra Mirza was invited to conduct the session during 17 – 23 Jan. 2017. The following specially designed modules were delivered –

1. Skills required to achieve success in jobs. (Govt/Corporate)
2. Personal Grooming
3. Effective communication
4. Presentation Skills
5. Interview Techniques
6. Group Discussion
This workshop attracted significant attendance of the students and achieved great success in terms of persistence impetus perceived by participants. Overall 87 students participated in this seven day programme.

2015 - 2016

MoU with MCED and Motivational Speech on Entrepreneurship Development

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell affiliated to the Maharashtra Centre Entrepreneurship Development, Govt. of Maharashtra is instituted with the hands of Dr. Abhiram Dabir, Divisional Officer, Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Amravati Division, Amravati on Thursday, 26th August, 2015. The lecture on has inspired students to think about business as a career.

To facilitate entry of the students in the entrepreneurship Career Counselling Cell has established Memorandum of Understanding with Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Amravati Division, Amravati. This memorandum was aimed at exploring opportunities available for students to be a successful businessman. Three year charter was formulated and mutually consented to implement in forthcoming years. The MoU was exchanged between Hon’ble Principal Dr. V. G. Thakare and Dr. Abhiram Dabir, Regional Officer, Amravati Division Amravati in presence of Convener of the Cell Dr. Dinesh Khedkar and State Officers of MCED Mr. Pradip Ingale and Mr. Jape.

Three Days Programme entitled “Exploration of Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Students and Skill Development for Establishment of Small Business”

The Three Days Programme entitled “Exploration of Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Students and Skill Development for Establishment of Small Business” organized under the Youth Led Sustainable Development Programme of the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur to be held from 5th March to 7th March, 2016.

This programme was planned in association with Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Amravati Division, Amravati; Vinayak Vidyamandir Mahavidyalaya, Amravati and Vinayak Vidnyan Mahavidyalaya, Nandgaon Khandeshwar.

Overall 234 students from all three organizing colleges were registered of which 177 students participated in the program. The programme was inaugurated at the gracious hands of Hon’ble Dr. S. A. Kalkar, Joint Director, Higher Education, Amravati and Dr. A. S. Dabir, Regional Officer, MCED, Amravati was the Key note speaker on this occasion. An inaugural session was chaired by Hon’ble Adv. Arunbhau Shelke. The programme was concluded on 7th March,2016 in the presence of Hon’ble Kiran Paturkar, President, MIDC Association, Amravati.
